Thanks. God, I don’t even know what to say… Way too happy.
GAIZ
Well I can’t do all the house work myself.
Why is this happening to meeeeeeee?
“I guess you have a beer baby” Claire joked as she patted Leon’s belly, teasing him about how much beer he drank when he would go out. As they made their way in the doctors office, Claire saw there was hardly anyone in today, which made her feel relaxed. Maybe she would be seen sooner than she thought. She was anxious too to find out the sex of the baby. She also hoped nothing was wrong, and the doctor could also give Leon what he needed also. “I’m really nervous, for the both of us” Claire admitted as they waited for the doctor to see them. The office was quiet, except a sick patient coughing in the seat near them both. Claire moved over so she wouldn’t get any of the germs thrown on her. The last thing she needed was to get sick while being pregnant. Once the doctor came out and asked to see them both, Claire got up and walked with Leon. “It’s been a while since I last saw you both together. How are things holding up?” The doctor asked Claire and Leon as he lead them in another room. Claire looked over at Leon after she sat back on the table. “We both felt the baby kick for the first time” Claire replied as she held Leon’s hand. The doctor smiled at them both before looking over at Leon. “You don’t look so well. Are you feeling ok?” He asked him as he felt Leon’s temperature.
The agent let out a nervous laugh, but couldn’t really answer when the doctor checked his temperature. Sure, he was nervous, but the waiting and nerves was getting to him now. “J-just nervous,” he managed to get out in a quiet tone. The doctor just returned a smile before he looked back to Claire. “Please, take a seat on the bed so we can do a check-up. It won’t take long.” Leon looked over to the monitor and held in his breath a bit. Why was he so nervous? Maybe because he finally had something in life he could take care of? That belonged to him? They stepped over to the bed and the doctor carefully held Claire’s shirt up and began to put gel on her stomach. Leon continued to held Claire’s hand, only more sweaty and tight this time. He took a deep breath and exhaled as the doctor turned on the monitor. “I.. I need to sit down,” he mumbled and quickly took the chair behind him and sat down next to Claire. His heart was pumping hard in his chest. “So is the baby okay?”
Claire nodded and sat back down at the table. “Just a sandwich is fine” she replied to him. She was hungry, and she could feel the baby was too. As she watched Leon make the sandwich, she started thinking about the future. Leon being a father, making sure their child knew how to play ball or ride a bike. Normal stuff that families did in their normal life. Reality for her though, nothing was ever normal now. She knew they both would have to work extra hard on being parents, on top of everything else they have to deal with. Maybe things won’t be so bad though. She knew no matter what, Leon wouldn’t stop being an agent until it killed him. Claire shook the thoughts once she saw the plate of food in front of her. She began to eat in silence, and could feel the baby jump as if it knew it was being fed now.
Leon didn’t sat down. He was too eager to get to the hospital. Knowing that they could find out the sex of their child excited him greatly, but he was pretty good at holding it to himself. Though, deep inside he knew things had to chance. Claire was right, he had to sort out his job somehow. Maybe he could get some time off, if the world was at peace. But right now that was just wishful thinking. As Claire finished the food they both go ready to head out. Being a gentleman Leon opened the car door for Claire and got himself inside as they drove off to the hospital. To his surprise it was easy and not that far away from where Forest’s house was. When they arrived Leon began to feel uneasy; maybe he was too excited and nervous. It pretty much made his stomach make knots. He let out a low sigh before helping his future wife out. “Are you sure you’re the one who’s pregnant? I think I got a bit of morning sickness,” he joked, but it was clear in his voice that he was getting more and more nervous now.
“Doesn’t hurt per say. Just makes me feel really happy.” Claire then rubbed her belly slowly back and forth to calm the baby. Her mother instincts were taking over more and more now. This was really a good surprise for the both of them. “I’ll never forget this moment” she said looking down at her belly as though talking to the baby inside of her. “I bet you think it’s a boy now huh?” Claire asked Leon as she looked back at him. She wasn’t sure of the baby’s sex herself. All she wanted was a healthy baby that would grow up with a normal life as much as possible. “Maybe we should go see the doctor again, to see?” She knew that they had to get the baby checked out again at some point. While Forest is away, it would be a good opportunity to make an appointment now while they could.
“He could be a good footballer,” Leon grinned proudly as he moved closer to her just to kiss her forehead. Seeing a doctor would probably be a good idea right now. He was also running out of pills. Finally taking his hand off her stomach he smiled a little and nodded. “We should see a doctor anyway. I need more pills and some strong painkillers. My jaw is killing me,” Leon pointed to the place where the Umbrella guards had hit him pretty hard. The boyish grin on his face faded a little as he took a step away from her. “I will find the nearest doctor. My car is still outside so it won’t be a problem.” He took out his PDA and searched up a hospital nearby. Hopefully it wouldn’t take too long to get here. “Do you need some food before we go?” he looked at her quickly.
Claire felt Leon pull a little away from her with a confused look on his face. “What? What are you-” before Claire could get her sentence out, she felt the baby move on her stomach. She quickly put her hands over her belly and held it to feel the baby. Leon was right, it was moving. “Wow” Claire said when feeling the movement. She smiled and looked up at Leon to see his reaction. He looked happier than she ever had seen him in a long time. This was not only a special moment for her but for him as well. His face was lighting up with joy which made her so happy to see. She then grabbed his hand and placed it over the baby. She hoped it would move again so he could feel it.
His eyes stared on her stomach for a bit before he felt Claire pulling his hand onto her stomach. The movement stopped for a bit which made Leon get back to reality for a second. Just when he was going to take his hand off her stomach again he felt the movement again. It was so unreal to him, but it was happening. He couldn’t believe how something could be moving like that. To him this was just amazing. Leon’s blue eyes looked back to Claire, seeing she was just as amazed and happy as him. “I think we got a fighter in here,” he whispered cheerfully while stroking his thumb on the fabric of her shirt. “How are you feeling? Does it hurt?”
Claire smiled after hearing what Leon had asked of Forest. It made her really happy to know Forest would be the best man at the wedding. She couldn’t think of another person perfect for the job, besides her brother Chris. But Claire knew Forest would make Chris proud. Before Forest left, she gave him one more hug. Once he was out the door, Claire went over to Leon and hugged him as well. She felt like she could cry in his arms right then and there. “Thank you” she told him softly against his chest. She knew Chris couldn’t make it to the wedding, so it was really sweet of Leon to ask Chris’s best friend. It made her have some hope that everything would be ok after all of this chaos.
Leon was surprised by the hug from her, but just smiled while moving his arms around her. He wasn’t quite sure what she thanked him for. So instead he just rested his chin on the top of her head, standing there lost for words while holding her close to him. “It’s okay now,” was the only soft words that escaped his lips. As Leon was just about to say something else to her he suddenly felt something between them moving. His eyes blinked a few times before he looked down at her. Did the baby just kick? Or was he just imagining stuff now? Leon cleared his throat a bit and made some space between them. “Was that…?” his face turned from serious to extremely happy in matter of seconds.
